We’ve noticed recently that Baby J does this little “tick” type thing after he eats first thing in the morning. Imagine if he’d just tasted a lemon for the first time, that kind of face. And it’s accompanied by a little twitch like he was shaking off a chill. Now, it’s only happened twice. But, he did it like 5 times in a row during those two clusters. At first we thought it was nothing. But then we did the dumbest thing a new parent could do. We consulted… THE INTERNET! So of course, we ended up at the Dr’s office. The Doc says he shows no obvious signs of a problem, and it’s most likely a benign thing. It could just be him doing “the things babies do”. Obviously, we’re going to have another test done just to be safe. Has anyone had a similar experience? It’s always nice to hear from other parents who have been through it. Thanks:)

DAY 201 of 365
I can’t believe I’m past the 200 day mark! My, how time flies when you’re…being puked on, not sleeping, changing countless diapers, etc. I wouldn’t change it for the world, though. This little blob of sunshine surprises me everyday. Having Baby J in the house fills our home with joy (most of the time:). I forget about the trivial things when I hear him learning how to laugh. All I want is for this little man to grow up happy and confident. That’ll do donkey.
DAY 200 of 365
I totally thought Jake’s first words were going to be that magical combo I’ve been waiting to hear, “DA-DA”! He started out on a nice roll of “Duh, dah, dah, duh, DA, DA”….I’m waiting, wide eyed with excitement, put it together buddy, you can do it! Just then he goes on a rant! “DA DA”, and then something that sounded like “DAVID HASSELHOFF!” I refuse to believe that’s what he said. Maybe tomorrow…
DAY 199 of 365
DAY 195 of 365
The introduction to solid food continues! So far, Jake is like a little baby “food processor”. Food goes in, and gets spat back out in a different form. But this food processor also transfers the food to the high chair, the floor, the walls, your hair, everywhere!
DAY 194 of 365
I think Jake is really starting to discover his voice. Now when he wakes from a nap, he let’s the entire house know he’s awake and ready for immediate attention!!! It’s hard to describe the noises that come from that little demon. Have you ever seen the barn scene in The Exorcism of Emily Rose? He sounds like he’s speaking a foreign language mixed with some grunting and spitting. It’s terrifying if you don’t know what you’re listening to.
I’m SO Excited!
You people are amazing! The response to the site has been awesome, and it’s only day 2! Not to mention the Facebook and Twitter pages. I can’t say thank you enough! Let’s keep it going!
I joke that I feel like a blind man having sex for the first time. The toughest part is figuring out where to put everything! 🙂 I was used to just posting the ‘Jake 365’ dailies on my personal FB page. Now there’s the website, 1FD Facebook page, AND Twitter! It’s crazy! But again, it’s only day 2. I’ll figure it all out.
So! My first Father’s Day was very cool. It felt a lot like a birthday. Everyone was nice to me. I got to do whatever I wanted. I received some cards and a book I’ve been wanting to read, ‘The 4-Hour Body’ by Timothy Ferris www.fourhourbody.com. I saw him on TV (Ok, it was Rachel Ray) talking about people dropping 20 lbs in 30 days by making a few changes. The 4 hours was the amount of time they spent in the gym in that month. I figured I’d check it out. Right now it takes me 4 hours just to wash my body. I’ll take all the help I can get:)
I know there’s so much more meaning to Father’s Day than gifts, but it always intrigues me to hear what kind of gifts Dad got? It cracks me up that no matter how horrible you might think another Dad’s gift is, they talk about it like it’s the greatest thing EVER! Like…”My son made me a paper mache ashtray in art class! I don’t smoke, and I can never use it, but isn’t it great!?”
So let’s hear it! I want to know what was the absolute worst Father’s day gift you or someone you know has received?
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!!!
Welcome to One Funny Daddy! (Please click on my last entry titled “Let Me Introduce Myself” to learn a little bit about the site.) What better day to launch 1FD!? I can’t tell you how thankful I am that you’re reading this! Again, THANK YOU! You people were the inspiration for starting 1FD. For nearly the last 18 months, we’ve been trading stories and advice about the roller coaster ride that is pregnancy and becoming a parent. All your words of wisdom brought me through the most stressful and exhausting days. When I wanted to cry, you made me laugh. And now, I hope to return the favor.
I didn’t even really know what blogging was until about three weeks ago. Technically, you could say I have almost no clue what I’m doing. The most exciting thing is waiting to see what this evolves into! As a proud new Papa (with the mind of an 8 year old), each day writes itself. I’m watching my kid develop into a little person. Everything is new to me, just as it is for him. I stare at Jake like he stares at the wooden spoon he’s holding for the first time ever. That’s what SO amazing to me! Everything that we do is for the first time…EVER!
Before I was a Dad, every time my friends talked about their kids, I wanted to stick my finger down my throat. Now I can say, being a parent is… the coolest thing ever! And just as the blog, being a Dad is a work in progress. I’ve learned to depend on you wonderful peeps. I really hope you stick with me!
Alright, enough kissing your asses, I’m going to enjoy my FIRST FATHER’S DAY EVER!!!
