Who knows what Jake’s interests will be when he grows up? But one thing’s for certain. Between his Mom and I, He’s going to have plenty to do until he figures it out! I hope you’re having a safe and happy Labor Day!!!

A huge football fan, I am not. Nor do I pretend to know the first thing about the game. It’s not that I don’t like the game. I just haven’t invested enough time in football to make it interesting to me…yet. But what if Jake wants to learn football!? I can’t look like a total putz!

What better way to get excited about football than FANTASY FOOTBALL!? Today is draft day. Seeing that the last full football game I watched was the ’85 Bears Superbowl, I’ve got some cramming to do!

Even if I lose, I had fun picking my team name, THE CHICAGO SHARTS! Our uniforms are white with brown stripes! 🙂

Help me Ditka!

I swear Jake is part monkey! His noises are quite similar. Not to mention, he climbs all over everyone, and tries to climb OUT of everything! He is pulling himself to the standing position constantly, but hasn’t crawled yet. Maybe we can just skip that step and move straight to walking? Either way, Jake is already becoming a hand full!

Is it illegal to turn the playpen upside down to keep this monkey in captivity?

Remember a few days ago when I called Jake “The Beaver Boy” (stop what you’re thinking) because he’s been chewing up his crib rails? We found the answer! No, not a Hannibal Lecter mask, the Leachco Easy Teether! 

He can gnaw and slobber until his heart’s content now, because it’s on 100% organic cotton with cool baby toys in reach! Check it out! I chewed on it myself. Delicious!!!

JAKE 365!!! Only 100 more days left until I compile all 365 posts from 1FD and my Facebook Page and turn them into a book for my baby boy! It’s still fun since day one! We have taken over 1,000 pics and hours of video.

Friends of ours (no, not the mafia) turned us on to a website mypublisher.com. They made a beautiful baby book for their daughter! You should really check out the site. I can not wait to put this all together and read the story from day one!

What up dawg!?

Jake’s growing faster than Lindsay Lohan’s rap-sheet. So, I’ve been starting to research new car seats. I think I’m digging the GRACO NAUTILUS 3 in 1 seat. 

When Jake was first born, the wife and I swore that we would not alter our routine in ANYWAY because there was a baby in the house. Nearly 9 months later, we tip-toe around the house, whispering to each other when he’s asleep like we’re afraid of waking God himself from his nap.

It’s absolutely true. All things revolve around your baby’s sleep schedule. If you say they don’t, you’re lying!!!:)

Yeah, I’m fine right now. Leave me alone.

Alright I’m tired now people. Let’s move it!!!

Reflecting back on yesterday’s experience with Jake (which really wasn’t that bad, it just involved a LOT of crying), I have to see it as a success. I know that with a small change of routine, he will start to get used to me being a source of comfort in the “going to sleep department”. He’s used to Mommy giving him the magic booby just before bedtime. Now daddy’s giving me a bottle!? WTF!? Where’s magic booby?

I have to tell you though, I have stood in burning buildings, lived through a tornado, and dove out of airplanes. But that feeling of helplessness when you can’t comfort your kid is more stressful than all three of those combined!

I know that it’s just a matter of time and practice. Things will only get easier. But for now, I think I’m going to have to start dying my hair!:)

A few of you have asked how my first day alone with Jake is going? In regards to the first half of the day, I’d say “absolutely splendid”. As far as the second half is concerned, I’d say “WE’RE GETTING A F*@KING NANNY!”:)

What’s a dollar dance?

Tomorrow is Mama’s first day back to work. I feel like it’s Ferris Bueller’s Day Off! We have SO MUCH guy stuff to do. I don’t even know where to start!?! Should we go fishing? A baseball game? Should I take Jake to a strip joint? I might be a bit overzealous, seeing that he’s only awake for two hours at a time. I just hope he makes it through dollar dances!!!:)
